Feeling nervous about starting therapy is completely appropriate. You may have some practical questions or wish to know what to expect when starting therapy. If you do not find the answer you are looking for below please reach us at cvwpsychologist@gmail.com.
The first four sessions will be used as assessment sessions in order for us to determine if we are a good fit and if you are comfortable with the process. It is also during this time that I will gather more information about you – a history of your personal background, a good understanding of your reasons for seeking therapy, and your expectations of therapy. These sessions are billed at the usual fee.
Once we have established a working relationship we can then make a joint decision on the frequency of your sessions and set a time which will become your regular slot. The frequency of your sessions will depend on your particular therapeutic needs.
Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long, while group / family / couples therapy sessions may be longer. The length of each session may vary depending on the needs of the client.
Although I run a cash practice, I do charge within medical aid rates and am able to claim directly from most medical aids with a co-payment if required. With regards to medical aid payments, the onus will be on you to ensure that there are sufficient funds available. You will be liable for any amount not paid by your medical aid. Cash, EFT or card payments are also welcomed, you will be able to claim a majority of the fee back from your medical aid. Please contact me to enquire about my current fee structure.
I do offer teletherapy utilising Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Sessions follow the same structure as an in-person session and are billed accordingly.
Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 17:00
Friday 8:00 – 16:00
Please contact me to enquire about my availability.
All sessions that are missed or cancelled less than 24hrs in advance will be charged for at the full rate. Please note that most medical aids will not reimburse you for these sessions.
